Zethu Mashika is an esteemed film composer renowned for crafting captivating musical journeys that enhance the cinematic experience. With a passion for storytelling and an innate ability to convey emotions through music, Zethu has solidified a prominent presence in the world of film and television. Born and raised in Benoni, located in the east of Johannesburg, South Africa, Zethu has been composing music since 2003, and began focusing on film & TV scoring from 2019 onwards. He is the sole founder of the film scoring studio Control and Command Studios (controlandcommand.studio).
Throughout Zethu's illustrious career, he has garnered numerous accolades, and these honours underscore his commitment to delivering exceptional musical compositions that elevate storytelling to new heights. Zethu has worked on TV series commissioned by Disney, Netflix and Acorn (UK) to name a few, including episodes of Disney+ animated sci-fi series Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire (2023), Netflix series Queen Sono (2020), Netflix series Jiva! (2021), Acorn TV’s Recipes for Love and Murder (2022), Netflix crime-drama Justice Served (2022), ShowMax’s true-crime documentary series Rosemary’s Hitlist (2023) and long-running SA series Gomora. His film credits include Netflix drama feature Happiness Ever After (2021), comedy-drama Do Your Worst (2023), Zuko Nodada’s action feature Uncovered (2019), as well as his score to Roland Joffé’s The Forgiven starring Forest Whitaker and Eric Bana. Zethu's portfolio is a testament to his versatility and adaptability, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. |
