IMDb Profile

From Vin Diesel surfing on a dirtbike to a
collaboration between Charlie Kaufman and
DreamWorks Animation, Robert Lydecker’s work
is broad and varied. He is an Emmy-winning,
classically-trained composer who grew up playing
drums in punk bands.

Credits include DreamWork’s Orion and the Dark
(written by Charlie Kaufman), the Emmy-winning
score for Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight
(starring Jack Black), xXx: Return of Xander Cage
(Paramount), Iron Fist season two (Marvel/Netflix)
and Lethal Weapon seasons two and three (Fox /
Warner Bros). Lydecker co-scored two seasons of
ABC’s Designated Survivor alongside Sean Callery,
and co-scored four seasons of the Fox series
Sleepy Hollow with Brian Tyler, earning an Emmy
Nomination for their main title theme.

Some of Lydecker’s other credits include composing additional music for Avengers II: Age of Ultron, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Iron Man 3, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty:
Modern Warfare 3, The Expendables II & III, Olympus Has Fallen, SMITE, Rogue Company,
and The Crazies. He scored New Deal studio’s VR experience, Kaiju Fury, set in the world of
Pacific Rim and created the music for the Wonder Buffalo VR experience which debuted at
Sundance and SXSW.

His independent work is varied as well. In 2020 he composed a work for the chamber ensemble
FiveByFive in collaboration with photographer James Welling and the George Eastman
Museum, and he’s collaborated on a variety of indie film projects, including “Love Simply,” a
rom-com shot, produced and distributed entirely in China, and “And Then There Was Eve,” a
drama exploring motifs of gender, mental health and love. His latest indie project, “A Cow In The
Sky,” is based on true events surrounding the murder of Mulegata Seraw and the take-down of
the White Aryan Resistance. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and stars the
Grammy-nominated Aminé.

Alongside his work in music and film, Lydecker has stayed active with other interests. He’s
spent many years cooking and serving free food in downtown LA at Pershing Square, Skid Row,
and Exposition Park, and he worked with friends and neighbors to turn an abandoned lot in East
Hollywood into a community garden. He also volunteers at state parks in Los Angeles to
restore habitat with native plants, and hopes he can continue doing positive work through music,
film, and personal time.
