In 2012 critically acclaimed, award-winning composer JEFFERSON FRIEDMAN picked up stakes and moved to Los Angeles with a suitcase and a dream. More than a decade of success in the contemporary classical music world included receiving a Grammy nomination for his String Quartet No. 3 and winning the Rome Prize and other prestigious fellowships. Major orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic and many prominent chamber music groups have performed his compositions at venues such as Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Hollywood Bowl, Disney Hall and Carnegie Hall.
Since relocating, he has been focusing his energy on film and television work; his credits include writing on the Netflix series "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp" and its sequel "...Ten Years Later," NBC’s "A To Z" and "Powerless," and the films "They Came Together" and "XX," the latter of which had its premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. He currently composes music for NBC's hit medical drama, "New Amsterdam," and DC Universe's animated series, "Harley Quinn." He also continues to write concert music, including releasing an album of genre-bending songs called "OnIn Love" sung and with lyrics by Craig Wedren, a cello quintet commissioned by Joshua Roman and the JACK Quartet for Seattle’s Town Hall, and a piano quintet for the Library of Congress premiered there by Simone Dinnerstein and the Chiara Quartet. He currently lives and works in Los Feliz with his big, dumb dog Marnie.
