Kotomi (Lauren Culjak) is a Los Angeles based composer and artist. A classically trained pianist and self-taught producer, her sonic palate ranges from industrial and gritty to ambient and orchestral. She recently scored the Peabody Award-winning and Emmy Award-nominated Amazon documentary Judy Blume Forever, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023, and the documentary feature Sue Bird: In The Clutch for Jigsaw Productions which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024. She also scored the feature film The Year Between, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and the drama feature The Mattachine Family, executive produced by Zach Braff. Additional recent works include the Netflix documentary Take Your Pills: Xanax, feature film Long Weekend for Sony Pictures, Amazon series With Love, Hulu series Love, Victor, The CW series Nancy Drew, and the comedy feature Diamond in the Rough.
Upcoming for Kotomi is the comedy drama Messy. As an artist, her brand of ethereal pop finds its distinct voice through her unique sense of melody. Her songs have been featured on Adult Swim's Rick and Morty, feature film Miss You Already, and for brands Chanel, Max Mara, and more. Her songs have also been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday, Pitchfork, SPIN, and indie tastemaker, Gorilla vs. Bear. She has collaborated with artists like Ryan Hemsworth, Bodysync, Max Cooper, Adventure Club and Cyril Hahn. Kotomi is her mother’s Japanese name, which translates to mean the beauty of old cities. |
