JONATHAN SADOFF |
Jonathan Sadoff, a graduate of USC’s Thornton School of Music, hails from the Chicago suburbs and is now based in Los Angeles. A versatile artist, Sadoff is a composer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and more.
He has composed scores for feature films such as The Peanut Butter Falcon, Ingrid Goes West, The Meddler, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and Beautiful Creatures. He also co-wrote the original songs and original score for the animated musical feature Under the Boardwalk in addition to scoring Incoming and Sweethearts. Sadoff’s television credits include the hit HBO series Chimp Crazy, Fox’s hit comedy series, The Mick, as well as Dollface, Angelyne, The Divide, among others. Formerly a member of the London/LA-based musical collective Thenewno2, Sadoff, together with bandmates Dhani Harrison and Paul Hicks, wrote and produced the band’s sophomore record The Fear of Missing Out and EP002, which featured Regina Spektor, The RZA, and Ben Harper. The group toured North America and the UK, performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Pearl Jam’s PJ20 festival, and on shows like Late Night with Conan O’Brien. In 2013, Sadoff, Harrison, and Hicks collaborated to score the feature film Beautiful Creatures, recorded with a 60-piece orchestra at Abbey Road. Additionally, Sadoff played guitar/bass and produced The Shortcoats with longtime friend and collaborator Lorene Scafaria and actor Adam Brody. Sadoff has had the privilege of working alongside renowned composers and musicians like Mark Mothersbaugh, T Bone Burnett, John Debney, and Rob Simonsen, as well as members of The Punch Brothers, Jane’s Addiction, Sleater-Kinney, Ed Sheeran, and Rufus Wainwright. Between his formal training in classical and jazz at USC, his years writing and performing, and the tens of thousands of hours spent in recording studios with artists, bands, and orchestras, Sadoff has honed a distinct sound across many genres, blurring the lines between traditional Hollywood score and modern needle-drop source. |
