DILLON BALDASSERO |
Dillon Baldassero is a Los Angeles–based composer, producer, and artist from Toronto. Most recently, he composed the score for That Friend (Billie Lourd, Harvey Guillén), premiering at the Tribeca Festival. His recent work includes the SXSW-premiering Deepfaking Sam Altman, The Fallers (Georgina Campbell), and music supervision on A24’s The Undertone. He scored the Amazon/Hulu series Davey & Jonesie’s Locker, earning a Canadian Screen Award nomination, and wrote the music to the feature Ballistic (Lena Headey). He is currently co-scoring Hartbeat’s Livestream from Hell, starring Kevin Hart and Druski.
While Dillon’s first love was the orchestral compositions of composers like Steve Reich, Thomas Newman, Ennio Morricone and their contemporaries, his work draws equal inspiration from the queer underground, and the pioneering electronic production of avant-pop musicians like Sophie, EASYFUN, Oklou and Oneohtrix Point Never. Known for a character and story-driven approach, his work builds on an orchestral foundation, merging it with electronic and modern influences to craft a progressive, evocative sound. Dillon studied orchestration through Berklee College and is an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre’s Slaight Music Residency, chaired by Mychael Danna. He is also a recipient of the SOCAN Grand Jury Prize for his work on ‘The Family’. Dillon also produces music as a solo artist under the moniker Leah’s bf, including his debut EP Pareidolia which was released last summer. |
